"How Much More"

If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him.” (Luke 11.13)

Many of us recently gathered to seek the how much more. And as we asked, the Father touched not only us with His "how much more," but we saw our children and youth being touched. We saw grown men weep and the youth cry, being kindly and powerfully touched by the Holy Spirit. And, when the Father gave us His "how much more", we bathed in a seamless spirit of unity that I could have only dreamed of a year ago. The "how much more" we experienced is not a dove; He is not wind nor an untouchable fire. He is not a what. He is a Who. He is a Person. He is our Holy Spirit.

One of All Nations international leaders, Gerhard Barnard, shared how the Father gives the Holy Spirit in proportion to our hunger and repentance. In response, we saw people confess publicly, repent in twos and threes, and pray for each other for restoration.

How do we hunger? It’s both natural and supernatural. I was not feeling very hungry and so I had to ask the Father to supernaturally create in me an insatiable longing for the Holy Spirit. I also had to choose to restrict myself and elect to "diet" from other things which make me feel full. Sometimes we need to diet from junk food and soda. Other times we need to abstain from relying on the good things that are not the best, such as depending on people for affirmation, or for me, a sense of achievement from being busy serving Him.

So, I’m clearing my plate and asking Him what to let go of. Then in Luke 11:13, it says that I need to ask for the "how much more." In recent weeks, I’ve daily asked that the Father will touch each of us—myself, my family, and for our people in All Nations—with the tangible presence and leading of the Holy Spirit.

As we anticipate 2024, Jesus has "how much more" and so much more for us that comes only from the tangible presence, leading, and speaking of our Holy Spirit. Would you join me daily before our good Father to: (1) repent of anything we need to deal with, (2) diet from the good that’s not the best, and (3) ask for the "how much more" of the Holy Spirit?

In the next couple of months, I will share more about how the Lord has been showing me how global missions is to be a Holy Spirit symphony. We are living in a time of escalating uncertainty, and also the escalating acts of the Holy Spirit. But it has to first begin with putting ourselves in a place of hunger and thirst for the Holy Spirit and "how much more" He wants to give of Himself.

Blessings,
