A special four-part series for churches and ministry leaders to acquire skills in security, risk, trauma care, and relief to operate in our constantly changing post-COVID world.
No one can deny that our world has changed massively in the last six months, especially with regards to security, risk, trauma care, and relief opportunities.
Security: With the strain of the pandemic, the world political scene has grown even more tenuous, making security not just an option, but a necessity. What does it look like to communicate – especially with and about our missionaries – in ways that are secure and safe?
Risk: Globally, we have had a close encounter with the costs and risks that missionaries often navigate. How can we prepare ourselves, our people, and our missionaries to face risk and defy fear for the sake of Jesus?
Trauma care: We have all been traumatized to one extent or another by this pandemic. We are all in need of healing and a fresh start.
Relief Opportunities: The struggles of this pandemic have led to crises that are also opportunities for the Gospel! How can we respond to these crises, providing relief that is helpful in the long-term, and also giving people Living Water in the process?
In this four-topic series, you will acquire the skills to operate in our constantly changing post-COVID world, especially as you care for your people and your cross-cultural workers on the field. This series is perfect for local church members, families of missionaries, missions pastors, church missions committee members, and anyone who serves as a Sender of missionaries. We highly recommend church missions pastors and missions committees take these trainings together, to help launch them into unified strategic advancement for the Kingdom!

TOPIC 1: SECURITY
In two sessions, you will learn how to operate securely in the modern world. Whether it is sending a short-term mission team or long-term missionaries, your congregation and mission team need to know how to communicate well, prepare well, and receive well. This requires some basic skills in security!
This workshop will help you understand how to share the work of your missionaries with your congregation safely. It will also show you which apps to use and some secure ways to communicate with your missionaries – no matter where they serve. This workshop is perfect for local church members, families of missionaries, missions pastors, church missions committee members, and anyone who serves as a Sender of missionaries.

TOPIC 2: RISK
In three sessions, you will learn how to mitigate risk while not backing away from the calling God has given you and/or your team. The posture we take as followers of Jesus will help us lean into healthy risk while avoiding unhealthy risk. Grounded in a theology of risk and suffering, these three sessions will help you practically implement risk assessment and help you accomplish the task that God has put in front of you.
This workshop will help you, your church, and your families to wrestle with what it looks like to send your children, your grandchildren, your church members, and your friends to serve Jesus in hard places. Individuals are welcome attend, but we encourage local church members to take this workshop together. This way you can begin to process some of these difficult issues together. This workshop is perfect for local church members, families of missionaries, missions pastors, church missions committee members, and anyone who serves as a Sender of missionaries.

TOPIC 3: FRESH START (TRAUMA CARE)
In this one-day training, you will give your heart the chance to start over and learn how to walk others through doing the same. You will learn how to become free from the effects of offense, hurt, or loss through the transforming power of forgiveness and freedom in Jesus Christ. This is a crucial training for all followers of Jesus. It will help keep your teams and individuals healthy.
Right now, everyone, everywhere has been traumatized in one way or another. The solution is Christ. This simple, Biblical solution is an essential skill for every believer. As we interact with missionaries and meet those who are hurting at work, at school, in our neighborhoods, we need to be able to help people process their trauma in ways that help them know that Jesus loves them and can help them. This will help us be ready to give a reason for the hope that we have – even if “counseling” isn’t our “thing” or our “gifting.” This training is great for all believers.

TOPIC 4: RELIEF OPPORTUNITIES BEST PRACTICES
In two sessions you will learn how to help others in a relief situation that leads to healing, help, and long-term transformation. Increasingly, relief will be a necessary skill set to share the love of Christ with others. You will learn how to go into any situation, assess what is in front of you, and put a plan together that empowers the locals, points to Christ, and leads to transformation.
As the poor and refugees increase, believers should and will reach out to help, but not all ways of helping are good ways. Learn how to share Jesus as you care for physical needs in wise ways. This training is for anyone helping with local food distribution at a local church, anyone who oversees or funds such programs, or anyone who welcomes refugees, immigrants, or international students into their communities. This training is also for anyone involved in global missions: missions pastors, local missions committee members, those who go on short term or long term trips, those who have family members on the mission field.
