Mouy's Story: A Disciple-Maker and Churchplanter
In His Own Words
Mouy shares how a young Kurdish young man became a disciple
"For more than two years, I served among the Kurdish community in Hamburg, Germany — and those were some of the most beautiful years of my ministry. We gathered weekly together for fellowship, prayer, and Bible study. I encouraged them to cook their favorite Kurdish dishes themselves, because most of them lived in refugee camps and deeply missed the warmth of home, the smell of familiar food, and the sense of belonging.
Our meetings were filled with laughter and tears, with songs and stories — stories of pain, loss, and longing that each one carried in their heart. I did my best to help them not only with spiritual matters, but also with their daily struggles. Alongside me was a ministry team which supported them with legal advice and paperwork, helping them navigate the complex refugee system in Germany.
But the greatest thing the Lord did during that time was this: nine young Kurdish men came to true faith in Jesus Christ and were baptized in His name. They became living witnesses of God’s love — a love that knows no borders, no languages, and no barriers.
Among all these unforgettable stories, the story of Ronan holds a very special place in my heart. Some time ago, while I was traveling, I received a phone call from him. His voice was emotional and trembling as he said: “The Lord Jesus appeared to me in a dream and said, ‘Follow Me.’ Since that day, my life has changed, and I want to know Him more.” I asked him carefully, “Have you accepted Jesus as your personal Savior?” He replied, “Not yet… but I want Him to be my Lord.”
So right there, over the phone, I prayed with him. Across the distance, a new soul was born into the Kingdom of God. Afterward, I connected Ronan with a small group of believers who were also learning to walk with the Lord step by step — discovering His love, forgiveness, and truth together.
Months later, we finally met face-to-face. He looked at me with sincerity and said: “I want to share some personal things about my life. Would you allow me to open my heart to you?”I replied, “Of course. I’m here to serve you in the name of the Lord Jesus. Whatever you tell me stays between us and God.” He began to speak about his past relationships. He confessed that he had been close to falling into sexual sin but suddenly felt a strong inner force holding him back, so he ended that relationship. Then he asked me,“Should I go back to her?”
I said, “Let’s pray first and seek the Lord’s wisdom. Heavenly wisdom always leads us to what honors God.” A few days later, we met again, and he said with peace in his heart: “I realized that relationship wasn’t from God. It wasn’t true love — just a passing desire.”
I thanked him for his honesty and told him: “You did the right thing, Ronan. The Lord is rescuing you so that you can live a pure and holy life. And when the time comes for marriage, remember that marriage is a sacred covenant, not just a social contract. Love your wife as Christ loved the Church — He gave His life for her. Marriage is kept alive not by rules, but by love, sacrifice, and wisdom.”
Ronan listened with great attention and joy. His eyes reflected a genuine desire to live a life that pleases God. From that day on, he began to share more about his life and grows deeper in his faith day by day.
This is Ronan’s story — the story of a Kurdish young man who opened his heart to Christ and started his journey of discipleship with steady, humble steps. From my time serving young people like him, I learned something precious: If you want to reach the hearts of the youth, you must step into their world: Be patient with their questions. Listen without judgment or anger. Give them room to trust you — just as the Lord Jesus gives us His grace and patience every day.
Ronan is still at the beginning of his journey, but he is walking steadily and is attending a small house church where he lives. For He who began a good work in him is faithful to complete it (Philippians 1:6).
I continue to pray for Ronan — that he may remain firm in faith and shine as a light among his people."
