The Many-sided Wisdom of God - A Missional Lens

In the books of Revelation and Daniel, God is presented with white hair -- a clear reference to His overflowing wisdom deposited among all nations! His wisdom is a hidden mystery that awaits its time of unveiling.

Key Concept: Many-Sided Wisdom of God

James speaks of a wisdom from heaven. (James 3:17) True wisdom comes from God. We see through divine wisdom how the Sawi of Papau New Guinea had been prepared in advance with the peace child ritual to receive Jesus. Centuries before, Isaiah had prophesied that Jesus would be the "Prince of Peace." (Isaiah 9:6)

Though a violent, warring and betrayal culture, God had placed within the hearts of the Sawi a desire for peace. Only Jesus could bring them peace, not only in this life between both God and man, but in the afterlife for eternity. What wisdom that God gave them this peace child ritual!

Take a moment to hear the backstory to the Peace Child and the Sawi people:

Excerpt from Devotional 4 with highlighted words:

"As 'the light of the world' shines upon nations and eyes are opened to see Jesus, their view of Him may not be familiar or the same as ours, but it is still biblical, nonetheless. For God’s many-sided wisdom, in all its vastness and beauty, triumphed in the coming of the Messiah for all humankind. Motivated by love, His wisdom overflows to all nations, transcending the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age. As Paul wrote, ‘No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit.’ (I Cor. 2:9-10)"

Scripture: Eph. 3:10-11

“His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms, according to His eternal purpose that He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (NIV)
