The Art of the Gospel -- Heart Language

Art stirs our emotions and engages our hearts. It touches our five senses: sight, sound, touch, taste and smell -- all of which are powerful in deepening our relationship with God and others.

Key Concept: The Power of Artistic Language

Like the pull of a magnet, the heart is engaged through art. It draws out a natural response from us to our Creator, the Master Artist. Some of the most beautiful songs, dances and paintings have been created while artistically gazing upon God's beauty, love and peace.

The art of the Gospel brings deeper revelation of who He is and helps apply truth to our lives personally. Consider the power of artistic language in the following phrases:

God's hair is white like wool.
This speaks of the overflowing wisdom of God. As the Ancient of Days, He is the wisest and oldest. He is to be the most honored being in the universe. His wisdom is many-sided (Eph. 3:10-11) and covers every decision He makes.

God's eyes like flames of fire.
This speaks of the overwhelming love of God. The Samaritan woman was changed by the unconditional love and acceptance she saw in Him toward her. Looking into the eyes of God we find burning love, purity and warmth.

His voice like the sound of many waters.
God created every language, and He speaks each one fluently. At Babel, humanity attempted to lift high their own name with one united voice in the earth. God confused their speech and caused numerous languages to erupt from that one event. From then on, the praises of God could be heard in many languages, and this will only increase until the Second Coming of Jesus. Like the ‘sound of many waters’ will be the worship of God by followers of Jesus in every tongue and language.

Words and word pictures are not sufficient enough to describe God, but together, artistically they give us a fuller understanding of who He is. His wisdom is higher. His love is deeper, and His voice is more complex than a single language.

God is the Great Artist who has come to redeem all nations and express Himself through all the colors of ethnicity and creativity. He is the author and finisher of the faith for all nations!

Excerpt from Devotional 40 with highlighted word:

"The more meaningful the message -- the more it resonates and is understood -- the more our hearts come alive. Herein lies the power of heart language."

Scripture: Rev. 1:14-15

“His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes like a flame of fire; His feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace, and His voice as the sound of many waters.”
