Devo Week 11 - Discerning the Unseen Realm

“Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves, so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.” Matt.10:16

As the Waters Cover the Sea - A Flood of Glory

Throughout the ages, mankind has been fascinated by God’s glory. We’ve meditated upon it. Marveled at it. Sought after it. Prophesied about it. Moses even saw it. (Well, only part of it.) God’s glory is powerful and transformative. This is why Satan is so determined to keep our minds blinded from it. (2 Cor. 4:4)

WHO IS FOR US

If the glory of God is man fully alive, as Irenaeus said, imagine how an artist might paint Habbakuk’s vision. We would see God’s presence flourishing among each people group along with a multitude of expressions of worship and praise to God. Like countless types of fruit, His glory would shine throughout every culture, as the life of Christ spreads and fills each people group.

God is after unique expressions of His glory within each people He created. Glory and honor are among both of the Jew and non-Jew. (Romans 2:10-11) The Gospel does not come to destroy culture but to incarnate and fulfill it with the life of Christ. (Matt. 5:17)

WHO IS AGAINST US

While God desires to fulfill, redeem and restore each people group with the Gospel, Satan seeks to destroy or de-story them. Satan is against our becoming who God created to us be – individually and collectively. If Satan can de-story us personally and as a people group, then he can create false narratives that dislocate us from our past. Destruction, dislocation and foreignness are signs that the Gospel has not been understood as of yet.

PRAYER FOR SPIRITUAL BREAKTHROUGH

Lord, help us to mature in Christ and to assist in the spreading of Your glory among all peoples. Give us eyes to see Your glory. Show us how to cooperate with Your Spirit to help complete Your story among all peoples. We pray for victory over the enemy’s stronghold. Show us how to pray for its dismantling and where to pray for its sanctification. In Jesus name, Amen.
