All Nations International Leadership Team Names Salome Klahn as New Hamburg Hub Leader and Executive Director

July 18, 2022

It is with great joy that the All Nations International Leadership Team (ILT) announces Salome Klahn as the incoming All Nations Hamburg Hub Leader and Executive Director. This appointment is a natural progression and outcome of her leadership gifting and track record. For the past few years, Salome has been serving as an administrator after All Nations launched the Hamburg Hub to reach the Muslim refugees flooding into Europe. Fluent in German, English, and Arabic, Salome has been instrumental in establishing systems, designing trainings, leading a multi-cultural team, launching our Ukrainian outreach, and now planting a new church in the Arabic community.

Dr. Juergen and Monika Kramer, who founded the Hamburg Hub, share, “When we hired Salome as our administrator we knew we had a raw diamond, but we did not know of all her potential. She loves Jesus with all her heart and is very passionate about making Him known among Muslim peoples. Her joyful energy, high intellect, and great organizational understanding makes it fun and interesting to work with her. We are all excited about where she will lead the work in Hamburg.”

In August, the ILT will publicly commission Salome at a global leadership gathering. Her official starting date as the Hamburg hub leader will be September 1, 2022, although she has been co-leading since January. We invite you to join us in welcoming and praying for Salome as she assumes this leadership role. We also want you to hear directly from Salome as she shares her God-story below!

“I was born in the South of Germany. I fell in love with God when I was six years old. This is my first memory of the Holy Spirit introducing himself to me during a church service I attended with my family. He was kind and loving and I immediately recognized Him. Since then I have loved Him. I repeatedly told Him, I wanted to live an adventurous life with Him. I took my first steps when I was 14 years old at youth conferences and on mission trips to Eastern Germany when I was 16 and 17 years old.

In my early 20s, my husband Henning and I helped lead two churches in an urban creative neighborhood, the first one consisting of young people on the fringe of society and the second one with students. I enjoy the dynamism of youthful church plants. But it's the "going" or missions part of Jesus' worldwide church I’m passionate about, as I was about to find out soon after.

In 2015, when a large number of refugees from the Middle East and Central Asia began flooding into the Hamburg main train station near my place, God told me to “serve the Arabs!” When I heard those clear words, I was writing my Master‘s theses and literally dropped my “pencil!” I started to help. It was a chaotic and urgent time as a million migrants poured into Germany within six months. Most of them didn't speak any German or English, and so they were literally lost and needed help with almost every little task of everyday life. My background in Islamic Studies, and being fluent in Arabic really helped in this situation. Since I can remember, I have always felt drawn to Middle Eastern people and communities and they to me. But looking back, I wish I already had my current All Nations team in Hamburg and the knowledge that I now have about disciple making! During that time, I got quite immersed into the Arab culture.

In case you are wondering: Although it was a busy season, I managed to finish my studies in Islamic Sciences (with a focus on Political Islam), Politics (with a focus on International Relations) and Theology (with a focus on Ecumenical and Missional Studies).

These are the things I'm passionate about: I want to see the church in Europe and the Middle East become missional, relevant, attractive, lovely and multiplying.

I love equipping individuals and missional teams serving Middle Easterners. I feel personally called to support and help develop leaders, especially, who work among those who never had the chance to hear about Jesus. It doesn't matter too much what their background is. They may be old or young, men or women from different nationalities. I'm just fond of those who take the risk and responsibility for the sake of others while co-working with the Holy Spirit.

I'm also passionate about my family and friends, which include my husband, our two sons (13 and 11), and my extended family with my three little brothers and their loved ones.”
