Resilience

I love the cacti in the Karoo. For me they represent resilience, endurance and strength. They are rising from the arid and unforgiving landscapes where few other plants dare to thrive.

Cacti are designed to survive, even when the going gets tough! I have loads of cacti in my house to remind myself that I can hug my inner cactus. When I am afraid, uncertain or feeling overwhelmed… I plug into the knowledge that with God everything is possible. His love and joy hug my fear or circumstances in a way that creates resilience and strength.

If you’re currently going through a tough time, someone may give you a cactus to let you know that you are a warrior and you can handle this! They think you’re a fighter, a vigorous and strong survivor or you need God in your life! When things are tough, we sometimes forget our inner strength and feel a little bit down on ourselves. But hopefully, with a cactus on your shelf, you’ll be reminded that you too can handle adversity and take on whatever challenge you’re facing!
