What Festivals Do You Celebrate?

There are 3 Pilgrimage Festivals where Jewish people try to go the Western Wall in Jerusalem.

First, Passover (Pesach), when the Israelites were freed from slavery in Egypt. Then 50 days after Passover is the Festival of Weeks, First Fruits (Shavuot- שָׁבוּעוֹת) when the Torah (the first 5 books of the Bible) was given to Moses on Mount Sinai. This corresponds with Pentecost. Recently, people around the world celebrated Shavuot.

Third, is the Festival of Booths (Sukkot) commemorating 40 years the Israelites wandered in the desert.

In Creation, God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and they shall serve as signs and for seasons, and for days and years.” Gen 1:14 The Bible uses the same word moed מוֹעֵד for both seasons and feasts. Have you considered not only celebrating Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter, but also the seasons/feasts mentioned by God in Creation?

Almost 50 years ago, I was trained in the Philippines by a dear woman from Singapore. She recently wrote this to me, “I’m so glad God allowed our paths to cross 50 years ago. We were both so young then and I remembered thinking: “I’m over my head training you, someone who’s really not a new staff and likely knows more about ministry than I do.” Yet, you were so gracious and teachable. Thanks for being a BLESSING in my life. I’m proud of who you are and your work in Israel is awe inspiring!!!”

One of my leaders a year ago wrote this to me, “We have to allow our “normal” life to be interrupted, to the point of huge inconvenience, if we want to see God move the way He can move, if we just let him.”

I want to be increasingly gracious and teachable, allowing my normal life to be interrupted and hugely inconvenient at times so that God has total freedom to move in and thru my life the way he wants to move!

This is what I pray for you as well, that he would move in and thru your life! Thank YOU for being such an incredible BLESSING in my life!!!
