The Favor of the Insider - Spirit of Adoption (Part 2)

To walk in the favor of God and man is to walk in the footsteps of Jesus. Jesus is the original apostle or ‘sent one’ from God.  (Heb. 3:1) God’s favor for ‘sent ones’ is multiplied by the ‘spirit of adoption.’ It says of Jesus that He grew in favor with God and men. (Luke 2:52) Finding favor with people is being approved by them. This positions us with acceptance and influence at spiritual and heart levels.

WHO IS FOR US

God is about us finding favor and friendship with Him, then releasing that favor to others.  This is the favor of an insider:  one who is close to the heart of God.  This is one of the most unique aspects of our faith as followers of Jesus. We do not serve and worship a capricious and far away God, but rather One who came from the Father and entrusted His covenant to be spread and bless all the families of the earth. 

WHO IS AGAINST US

Satan is specifically our adversary in this area.  Satan does not have the favor of God as he is against Christ.  Instead of favor, Satan seeks to deceive, manipulate and control.  Because God works through relationship with favor through both family and friendship, Satan will do everything in his power to divide families and friendships. Satan will masquerade as a friend or even a family member to draw you away from Christ.  We should remind ourselves of Paul’s warning how Satan seeks to lead us astray from sincere and pure devotion to Christ.  (II Cor. 11:3)

PRAYER FOR SPIRITUAL BREAKTHROUGH

Father, we thank You for Jesus and the favor of God that rested upon Him.  Lord, draw us closer to You and pour Your favor upon us.  Thank You for the favor of God bestowed upon us through Jesus.  Now release Your favor as we share Your Good News with the least, the last and the lost! In Jesus’ name, Amen.
