4th Letter of a Transformed Life

Greetings to you in the name of Jesus. Sorry for the delay in sending you this letter as we have been going through a rough time. As you know, we are in a restricted zone for preaching the gospel and meeting as a fellowship. It has been a time of great struggle for us. Many challenges come our way every day. My husband had to travel out of the city due to security reasons. But we can boldly say that our God is a good God. His work never stops.

Here I come to you with a story of a girl who experienced a very difficult childhood. Pari came to our house one day with her cousin. She entered our house and sat on our couch, her face looked full of sadness and her eyes looked tired and depressed. She had heard from her cousin that we pray for people who are in difficult situations.

She came with an expectation that her life would get better.

She belonged to a non-Christian family and was in a critical situation. Her mom was possessed with an evil spirit that would take her out on the roads and make her wander on the streets. Her dad worked in the Indian army. One day her father returned from work and was resting in his bed. Her mom was in the kitchen doing something which no one noticed, then all of a sudden the children heard their father scream. The children ran to the room and saw that their mom had boiled a liter of oil and threw it on their father’s face. It burnt him quite badly and he was rushed to the hospital. After the first aid the doctor said that Pari’s father would lose his eyesight. It was a time of great difficulties, fear and uncertainties. Pari was very close to her father. Her concern for her father drew her to our house. Her heart was full of expectation that if we pray to our living God her father would get healed.

I shared the gospel of hope and love with her. She poured out her heart with tears. We prayed with her that day and assured her that our living God whose name is Jesus heals our body as well as our spirit. I spent quite a few hours with her as she was broken and full of grief. We continued to pray for her father and her family in our everyday prayers. Pari became our frequent visitor as she experienced love and acceptance. It was my privilege to spend time with her and lead her to Christ. She gave her life to Jesus and decided to follow him. Soon after she discovered that Jesus healed her father’s eyes.

Although her father’s face was burnt, his eyes were healed.

We started visiting the family and praying for them. Both of her brothers came to the Lord. Her father passed away due to a heart attack and her mother was healed of the evil spirit. Later in life she developed cancer and before she died she gave her life to Jesus.

Today all three siblings are following the Lord with all their hearts.

They very well know that their life was transformed because of Jesus.

We were privileged to get Pari married to a believer who came from a non-Christian background (Pari witnessed to him). I was so blessed to be there with her when she delivered her son which was very difficult and long for her.

Pari’s brother got married to a believer from a non-Christian background last year in our church. We stand in awe of the Lord and his wonderful works. It is a huge blessing to see the first generation Christians and how God blesses their children to be born in a Christian home. Our heart fills with thanksgiving to the Lord of all that he has done. His eyes see everything, he is so interested in every individual and he alone can transform the lives of people by his love and power. I feel so privileged to see this life transformed.

I hope that this story of Pari encourages you. I can say that this is the Lord’s doing and it is marvelous in our lives. All glory to Jesus.

May you be blessed. Lots of love to you all.

About the author: I am Soni* working in the Northern part of an Asian country as a full time minister. I work along side my husband (A) who is from South Asia. I quit my teaching job after I heard the call of the Lord to work for Him among the ladies in unreached areas. So we have many ladies and girls from a non-Christian background now following the Lord. The Lord asked me to share their stories of how He transformed their lives. So I have started writing their stories. I have four boys. It has become very difficult for us to minister openly now as we are facing a lot of persecution. But guess what…He keeps working…transforming people’s lives…His love reaches people! {*Names have been changed to protect our fieldworkers and their families.}
