Devo Week 38 - Discerning the Unseen Realm

“Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves, so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.” Matt.10:16

Our Place in History (Part 2) - Mankind’s Pathway

While battles rage around our identity, great fury is unleashed over our testimony.  The two are intricately connected. The history of our encounters with God becomes the expression of our identity in Christ. Both our witness for Christ and our identity in Christ form the solid foundation of our faith. We become His living stones. (I Peter 2:4-5)

WHO IS FOR US

Jesus told His disciples to wait in Jerusalem until their testimony could be empowered by the Holy Spirit. (Acts 1:8) The gift of the Holy Spirit is the promise of Father God. (Luke 24:49) When we make declarations of our encounters with God, we push back the enemy. This gives praise to God, strengthens our faith, and empowers us to witness before God, people, and the principalities and powers. It grounds our life spiritually and places our life upon the right foundation of Jesus. (I Cor. 3:10-11)

WHO IS AGAINST US

One of the ways we overcome the enemy is by the word of our testimony. (Rev. 12:11) This is why Satan seeks to steal, kill, and destroy by “de-storying” our lives. He twists and darkens the truth and tries to change the narrative of our lives. The goal of our adversary is to hide and hinder our faith in Christ. On the other hand, our testimony is the verbal expression of our faith. When we testify to the work of God in our lives, it builds a foundation and gives firmness to our faith. Satan discourages us to shrink back and drift in our relationship with God, but God is the author and finisher of our faith, in Jesus’ name! (Heb. 12:1-2)

PRAYER FOR SPIRITUAL BREAKTHROUGH

Lord, we fix our eyes on Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith. You loved us first! You are also the Finisher of our faith! May this truth become firm in our hearts. Thank You for the gift of faith. Lord, complete your work of faith in us, in Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.
