It Starts Here

We know that in the beginning the eternal "I Am" created all that exists. But have we ever stopped to wonder why?
Why would God, who is perfect in Himself and needs nothing, bring you and me into being?
Is this something we can know this side of eternity?
...How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways!
For WHO HAS KNOWN THE MIND OF THE LORD...
Romans 11:33-34
Though His judgments are unsearchable and His ways unfathomable, I believe God wants us to know why He created us.
The eternal Living Being, who dwells beyond physical existence and time, chose to create both.
Time began the first day of creation when God created the physical heavens, earth, and light. God then added form to the earth and seeded it with vegetation. He made "luminaries" and placed them in the heavens to separate day from night, for recognizing signs and seasons, and to give light on the earth. He then made all living creatures.
Everything that God created and set into motion was meant for what He intended on earth.
God then brought into existence the reason for which everything was made.
Man.
Man is the only creation that God intimately breathed His "breath of life" into. His breath gave man what no other creation was given. A living soul. God made man in His likeness, a "living being", for a unique purpose different from that of all His other creations. Relationship.
We were created so that we could relate with our Creator.
Jesus is our Creator. He is the great "I Am", Mighty God, and Eternal Father (John 1, 8, Isaiah 9). He is who He is, the Lord above all, without peer or equal. Yet He wants us to be with Him, relating and ruling with Him in His kingdom (Daniel 7, John 17, Revelation 21).
Why would God want us, His creation, to relate with Him? Couldn't He just assign us positions with tasks to perform and leave at that? He could, but I don't believe He will. He desires much more for us than this.
But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love.
1 Corinthians 13:13
Of all that He is, God is love...and love is experienced relationally.
It's because of His desire for us to personally know Him and intimately experience who He is that He created us and offers us relationship. Knowing Him is the great eternal purpose for which we were created. Knowing Him IS eternal life...the life He has desired for us from the beginning.
This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ
whom You have sent.
I believe with these few words, the One who created us reveals why He did.
I encourage you to read Revelation 21. What's coming is greater than we realize. It's not just tribulation and persecution. It's the fulfillment of what creation has been longing for. It's the establishing of eternal and unbreakable relationship between God and those of His creation who love Him. In this bond of love is eternal life of dominion with Him.
And all of this, what God intends for us, is why Satan is against us.
Satan wants dominion over God's creation. He's wanted it since the moment he decided to exalt himself and make himself equal to God (Isaiah 14:12-14). He wants to rule over the earth. And here is the hard part for us to understand. God will let him. Yes, God is going to let Satan gain rule over the entire earth, including those who are in Jesus...the saints (Revelation 13, 14).
Why would God allow our archenemy to have rule over us?
I believe it's because He loves us.
Because God loves us, He causes everything that we encounter here on earth to work to our good...including suffering. In allowing Satan to afflict us in this way, something will be produced in us that otherwise wouldn't be produced. Something which will bring God glory and lead to the fulfillment of His intent.
Steadfast faith.
But resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world. After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you. To Him be dominion forever and ever.
1 Peter 5:9-11
In resisting Satan as we remain faithful to Jesus in our suffering, God will personally do a work in each of us that only He can do. By His Spirit, He will complete the work He started which will enable us to share in Jesus' eternal glory and dominion. This is His intent. It's what He's desired for us from the very beginning.
It won't be easy to abide in Christ in the last days. It's the time of great distress that comes upon the world. Still, we have no reason to fear. Jesus is sovereign over it all. What we experience is filtered through His love for us. We know what remaining faithful to Him will lead to.
Jesus is preparing us to rule with Him in His kingdom. He's initiated relationship with us so that we will grow into becoming like Him. As we do, He let's us know what's coming and what it's for.
Relating with Him starts here...and will go on forever. It's why we were created...
...and is the greatest privilege we can ever be given.
About the Author: Kevin Carmody and Tammii Carmody came to know Jesus as their Lord in the late 1970’s. During the years following, they participated in a number of short-term ministry trips to Central America and Western Europe while raising their two children. In the mid 1990’s, The Lord asked them to consider Abraham’s “other” descendants who lived in the Middle East...the Arab nations. In response, they resigned executive positions that they held in their occupations and joined ALL NATIONS in 2003 to receive ministry training as field workers. The Carmodys have lived and served in the countries of Oman, United Arab Emirates, Iraq, and Germany, ministering to both Arabic and Farsi speaking peoples with the love and forgiveness of Jesus. They now reside in Arizona.
