Imaginative Prayer

This image is one of my prayer images based on my imaginative word and produced by AI

Recently, I joined a prayer workshop, led by our lovely leader Dr. Pam Arlund. This prayer workshop has revolutionized my personal prayer life and I received so much revelation through these experiences. The method itself is very simple. Quiet down; read a bible passage; pray for grace: Lord, guide, protect and use my imagination; spend 30 minutes seeing how the Lord will use the passage; give thanks for whatever happens; take a break; write your notes; share with your prayer companion.

I had learned about listening prayer before, but at that time, I focused mainly on hearing God’s voice and journaling it down. I didn’t use my imagination as much. This approach has really helped me develop intimacy with God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. I have received many gracious promises for my aging parents and young children. I have been released from the guilt of not being fruitful and the grief of losing friends due to moving. One thing that helped me the most is an imagination exercise where Jesus taught me where the Father is. Before this, I didn’t know how to picture Father God, as He is spirit. In one imagination exercise, I was with Jesus in a vineyard, and I asked, 'I know the Father is the one who prunes these branches, but where is the Father?' He told me the Father is everywhere. The entire universe is filled with the Father. Whenever I am in Jesus, I will be able to see the Father. Then I saw the Father’s hands on the water fountain, on the wind that carried away all the withered branches. This experience has brought me a focus on abiding in Jesus, and therefore, I will see the Father more clearly in my life.
