The Divine in a Marketing Logo

A Sparkly Question

Our mission team went hiking through rivers and pools with a group of New Agers. It was a joyful and playful time.

There were many meaningful conversations and I had the opportunity to share my belief and connection to the life and love of the Triune of the God using creative language with several people. It’s common for them to ask, “Who is the Divine to you?” I am now in the practice of saying, “I am in a relationship with the Creator, the Healer, and the Spirit of Truth.”

When they ask, “what does that mean?” I respond with, “The Creator created all things and He created them good. The Healer restores all things….He restores and fixes things when they break; our relationships with others, our relationship with ourself, our bodies when we get sick, our relationship with the Divine. The Spirit of Truth is with us always and teaches us all things."

However, I feel called to highlight a particular, sparkly, conversation.

Our New Age friend was wearing a baseball hat with a unique logo on it. I saw the cross and it made me curious. “Why does my friend, who has told me about his disenchantment with the Church and Jesus, have a cross on his hat?” I asked, "What's on your hat? What does it mean?"

Our friend, who is an experienced bartender with a sensitive flavor pallet, and appreciation for herbs and spices, shared that it was the Jaegermeister logo. He proceeded to tell the story of how it came to be. Jagermeister is a drink that originated in Germany. Back in the day, it was customary that each town would have its own proprietary blend of liquor. (Jagermeister is actually a beautiful and sweet blend of herbs and spices, not the Jagerbomb, college, frat boy, drink that we tend to associate with it.) While the creator of Jaegermeister was walking in the forest, he was overwhelmed by the Holy Spirit, and then inspired to create this particular recipe. The recipe is now world-renowned, and not just a local blend, like the others.

We proceeded to have a conversation about the power of the Holy Spirit, man's creative connection to the Divine, and how with the inspiration and flow of the Divine, "we can do all things."
